As school student I never dreamt to become somebody leave alone being a painter. My drawing teacher at school used to get mad at me and threw my drawing book outside the classroom. This happened more than once. Those days we lived in a scenic pilgrimage town. My father late B. Achuta Rao was the headmaster of the school where I studied. I even led a strike in the school on some issue. Weaving and drawing were optional subjects I chose. Our drawing homework was always about symmetry in line drawings. To draw exactly as my drawing teacher expected was not only difficult but near impossible. My drawing teacher in the school almost always was angry at me with or without showing my home work.
I am forever indebted to my drawing teacher Mr. Subramanyam, for all the rejection of my homework was the real reason of my determination to achieve certain level of skill in drawing. I even won prizes in inter school drawing and painting competitions in the town.
